19-Year-Old Shot Outside Cumberland Farms In Western Mass: Police

Police in Western Massachusetts are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot near a convenience store, authorities said.

Police in Pittsfield responded to a report of a person shot around Cumberland Farms, located at 154 1st Street, around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, Pittsfield Police said.

Upon arrival, officers located the 19-year-old resident suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Police later found a gun inside a vehicle said to be involved in the shooting and a teenager was arrested for unlawful possession of the firearm, police said. 

Authorities believe the incident was not random. The investigation is ongoing.
